Media, Pa. — On Wednesday, former Vice Admiral Joe Sestak, the Democratic candidate in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, announced that his former boss, President Bill Clinton, will be visiting the district on Thursday, October 5 for a special event at the Valley Forge Military Academy between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Sestak served on the National Security Council in the White House, as President Clinton’s Director for Defense Policy.

“As someone who served as President Clinton’s former Director for Defense Policy on the National Security Council in the White House, I have the highest admiration for President Clinton,” noted former Vice Admiral Joe Sestak. “That’s why today I am extremely pleased to announce that my former boss, President Clinton—who has done so much for so many in this district and throughout the nation and the world — is coming to my home district to support my candidacy for Congress. It was during the Clinton Administration where we achieved the longest economic expansion in American history, the highest homeownership in American history, more than 22 million new jobs and the lowest unemployment in 30 years, the largest expansion of college opportunity since the GI Bill, and a safe, strong, and secure America. We clearly need a new direction so that we are once again moving this country forward.”

Joe Sestak is the Democratic candidate for Congress and a former three star Navy Admiral. Sestak was born and raised in Delaware County and graduated from Cardinal O’Hara High School. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and spent 31 years serving his country in the Navy. Sestak commanded an aircraft carrier battle group in Afghanistan and Iraq and served as President Clinton’s Director for Defense Policy. Sestak is running because the policies of George W. Bush and the Republicans in Congress are not working and it’s time for a change. Sestak believes we need a new policy for Iraq, a new economic policy that works to keep jobs in Pennsylvania, and a new energy policy to help consumers rather than big oil companies. Sestak also believes our security depends not just on a strong military, but better schools, more affordable health care, and reducing the nation’s budget deficit.
