Contribute

Under federal law, individual contributions are limited to $2100 per federal election.  The primary election and the general election are each considered separate federal elections with each having a separate contribution limit of $2100

The contribution must be from the individual's own funds and not from the fund's of another.  Spouses may each contribute $2100. If the contribution exceeds $200, federal law requires that you must also provide your occupation and name of your employer.

Campaigns may not accept money from foreign nationals. A foreign national is defined as an individual who is (1) not a citizen of the United States and (2) not lawfully admitted for permanent residence.

If you are employed by a federal government contractor, federal law specifically permits officers and employees of federal government contractors, and their spouses, to make contributions from personal funds to a campaign.

The prohibition against contributions from "federal government contractors" applies only to (1) contributions from the funds of the entity itself; (2) contributions from the funds of a partnership with a government contract; and (3) contributions from the personal and business funds of (a) an individual under contract to the federal government; and (b) sole proprietors of businesses with federal contracts.
